Spring Light, 1986
Somewhere in my psyche there is an archetype of place, of home, of shelter and its surrounding atmosphere. Whenever I get near an actual place that approximates the archetype, or even any of its elements, a signal travels through my brain setting off a series of bells and whistles that inevitably ends up as a painting.
This work, Spring Light, is about as close as I have come to actually painting what the archetype has in mind.
