I think it's the feeling that time appears to be holding still that compels me to paint this kind of scene. Or maybe the above-it-all perspective... looking out on the entire island with all of that activity going on. The contrast of landscapes and lifestyles makes the Upcountry life seem timeless by comparison.
It's a rare place on the planet that lets you ponder your existence in such lovely surroundings.
