Hilo Waterfront, 2020
There's a wonderful atmosphere in Hilo. It feels like time slowed down many decades ago. Maybe the multiple tsunamis washed salt into the clockworks. Hilo bay tends to be a magnet for such things. Or it could just be the ubiquitous Hawaiian salt air. The town has an unhurried metronome in perfect pace with the present. The steady Hilo rhythm flows from the mountain above to the tide pools of Liliʻuokalani Gardens right though to the buildings running along the waterfront. Everything in its own time; Hilo Time.
